Fellsmere’s Future

A COMMUNITY CENTER FOR ALL

Picture a crisp fall morning, the scent of fresh paint welcoming you to a new community center in Fellsmere, Florida. From the bustling computer lab to the echoing sounds of basketballs in the new gymnasium, this center signifies a bold step towards impacting the lives of Fellsmere’s citizens. The journey begins with a meeting in the board room, where leaders discuss the center’s new hours and its significance for families, youth, and seniors alike.

Fellsmere, known for being the first city south of the Mason-Dixon line to grant women the right to vote in 1915, has a rich history of progress. Despite lacking large corporate resources, the city thrives on the strength of its citizens – hardworking families, citrus industry workers, and a growing population of over 660 students in the elementary school. The launch of a capital campaign for the new Community Impact Center marks the beginning of Fellsmere’s next chapter.

The Capital Campaign

A COLLECTIVE EFFORT

The Fellsmere Action Community Team (FACT) spearheads the capital campaign with a preliminary goal of $3 million. This ambitious endeavor aims to create a hub that goes beyond a traditional community center. The Collective Impact Group (CIG) leads the project, focusing on shaping a narrative that emphasizes the importance of investing in this transformative initiative.

Key steps include outlining the larger vision for the property, estimating costs and timeframes, creating marketing materials, and ensuring robust infrastructure, including a donor database. CIG provides coaching to committee members on donor pitches and value propositions, ensuring alignment with the overall case for support.
